Our Principal
Dr. Tenicia Barclay
I am honored to have been named Principal of Childersburg Middle School. My journey with Talladega County Schools began in 2003, when I started my career at Talladega County Central High School, teaching History to 9th-12th graders. Over the years, I also taught at Genesis Alternative School, Fayetteville High School, and Childersburg Middle School. In 2013, I transitioned to administration as Academic Director at Helen Keller School of Alabama within the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind. In 2017, I returned to Talladega County Central High School as Assistant Principal.
My educational journey started at Sycamore Elementary School. I graduated from Winterboro High School in 1997 and then pursued my undergraduate degree in Secondary Education History at Jacksonville State University. I continued my studies at Jacksonville State University, earning two master's degrees—one in History and another in Educational Administration—in 2006 and 2010, respectively. In 2016, I completed my Educational Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership from Samford University, solidifying my expertise in school leadership.
I believe a collaborative school environment, with building relationships as the foundation, is key to creating successful teachers and students. I am convinced that partnerships with parents, teachers, and community members are essential to enriching student experiences at Childersburg Middle School. Returning to Childersburg Middle School feels like coming back to a place where I feel connected—it feels like family.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, cooking, and spending time with my daughter and husband. I look forward to this new chapter at Childersburg Middle School. Go Big Blue!
